Frisco, TX – A pair of Major League shortstops made rehab appearances in the game for Wichita and Frisco, but the Wind Surge score three runs in the seventh to tie the game and three ninth inning runs to defeat the Riders 8-6. The Surge won their third in a row and lead the series three games to none.
Frisco’s defense led the league with fewest errors, committing twelve through the first 29 games but on Thursday the Riders committed seven errors leading to three unearned runs.
The Riders led the game 5-2 through six innings and the Wind Surge offense took advantage of a pair of walks, a hit batter, and two errors in the inning to tie the game.
In the ninth with two outs the Surge drew a pair of walks and Alex Isola delivered with a two out two run single and Yoyner Fajardo added an RBI single. Michael Boyle worked two and two third innings for the win and John Matthews took the loss.
Royce Lewis on a rehab assignment for the Minnesota Twins played third base for seven innings and had no hits in three at bats with a hit batter. Corey Seager on a rehab assignment for the Texas Rangers had one hit and two RBI playing five innings.
NOTES – Wichita stole a season high six stolen bases. The Surge have three players with at least ten stolen bases. The Riders seven errors is the most in a Texas League game this season.
