EOE STATEMENT

We are an equal employment opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.

Why The Hens and Walleye?

We are two private not-for-profit organizations that have developed a fanatical experience and culture designed to deeply connect with our fans, partners, and colleagues; passionately creating lifetime memories for generations of families and friends. We meaningfully impact our community through vision, dedication, collaboration, and leadership powered by enlightened community and corporate support. Our world class venues are places where memories are made. We dream big, learn from mistakes, have fun, expect excellence, celebrate creativity, and treat all with respect.

The Role

The Hens and Walleye leadership team is looking for an experienced content leader and hands on creator to join our growing team and help us build a storytelling narrative that transcends sports and celebrates our community. Our focus is to tell the stories of our past, present, and future in ways that connect on an emotional level with our fanbase and future fanbase, using unbridled creativity, risk taking, and forward-thinking techniques and skillsets.

The Director, Storytelling & Production will be a trusted leader; growing, teaching, and working alongside our manager of special events, manager of ticket sales, manager of food and beverage, manager of fanwear, video producers, graphic designers, social media managers, social and data strategists, creative directors, and broadcasting team to make the best work of their lives.

Reporting to EVP\GM of each team, this role will be integral in establishing the strategic plan, priorities and execution of the content pillars for the organization and must have a working and high-level knowledge of storyline and storyboard development, production techniques, shooting on all levels of professional video equipment, audio and sound design, motion graphics, photography and imagery and how all those pieces work together to build amazing and powerful stories.

A strong understanding of current social and media trends that will engage audience of all ages and across the lifespan is a must.

Omnichannel Marketing

The director will create an interconnected experience, providing customers with a seamless experience and service, regardless of whether they are using email, social media, telephone, or even in-person channels. Omnichannel integrates available customer service channels to provide continuity and connectivity across communication channels. This allows customers to move freely between channels without experiencing interruptions or having to repeat context from interactions on previous channels. In short, it provides a single, consistent customer journey, no matter how the customer chooses to make contact.

This marketing strategy takes digital interactions, such as social media and e-commerce purchases, and integrates them with interpersonal interactions. These in-person interactions include in-store staff for B2C brands as well as sales and customer success managers for B2B brands. Omnichannel marketing requires all departments to work together.

Why You?

You are both a teacher and a student at the same time. You are a constant learner who can show us multiple pieces of work spanning multiple genres that will either give us goosebumps, make us wipe our eyes and pretend we aren’t crying. If you can make us do all three with one piece, you are something special. You are a fan of sports but are a bigger fan of the story. You lead with integrity and empathy and are more excited when someone who works for you gives you the reaction above that you gave us, and you are quick to let them know what a great job they did and even where they can improve on the next one. You find harmony between your work and personal life, knowing when it’s time to focus, and when it’s time to focus on yourself. What excites you most about your craft and skillset is the ability to create an emotional reaction with a single piece of content on any platform, that will cause people to care about it and share it instantly, creating those network effects to give our brand story a reach beyond just our ballpark.
