EL PASO, Texas – The Round Rock Express (36-25 | 80-55) were defeated by the El Paso Chihuahuas (28-33 | 60-76) by a final score of 4-3 after a walk-off home run on Friday night at Southwest University Ballpark.

Express reliever RHP Daniel Robert (1-2, 5.06) walked away with the loss after giving up the game-winning run and finishing with 1.2 innings that saw one hit, one run, no walks and three strikeouts. Chihuahuas reliever LHP Jared Koenig (5-4, 4.61) earned the win after 2.0 scoreless innings that saw one hit and two strikeouts.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • After four hitless innings for the Express, C Matt Whatley smacked a two-run home run after DH Dio Arias had drawn a walk and gave Round Rock a 2-0 lead.
  • With no outs in the sixth, El Paso took a 3-2 lead when SS Ray-Patrick Didder doubled, DH Ji Man Choi walked then RF Tirso Ornelas doubled to score Didder. A single from LF Taylor Kohlwey scored two before Round Rock RHP Jonathan Hernandez got the final three outs in the inning.
  • In the seventh inning, Express SS Jonathan Ornelas swung at a 3-0 pitch with two outs on the board and sent one over the fence, which tied the game 3-3.
  • The Chihuahuas walked the game off in the ninth inning with two outs on the board after a solo home run from CF Daniel Johnson gave El Paso a 4-3 victory.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • During Friday night’s fifth inning, Round Rock C Matt Whatley knocked his first home run since going yard on August 15 against Sugar Land.
  • In the first Triple-A action of his career, Express LHP Antoine Kelly tossed 1.0 scoreless inning on Friday and gave up two hits without issuing a walk. He also struck out a pair.

Next up: Round Rock and El Paso will meet for game five on Saturday night, with first pitch at Southwest University Park slated for 7:35 p.m. Express RHP Owen White (2-2, 5.21) is scheduled to take the mound up against Chihuahuas RHP Jose Espada (0-0, 3.55).
