The Rochester Red Wings snapped a two-game skid to beat Indianapolis Thursday night, 3-1. DH Matt Adams and 1B Frankie Tostado both went yard, driving in all three runs which was enough for the Wings pitching staff, led by RHP Roddery Muñoz who allowed one earned over 5.1 innings in his first win as a Red Wing.

After three scoreless innings, The Red Wings struck first in the top of the fourth. 1B Frankie Tostado drilled a solo home run over the right field wall, his second homer as a Red Wing, to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.

The Wings added to their lead in the top half of the fifth. CF Derek Hill reached first on a fielding error by the Indians pitcher to lead off the inning. The next batter, DH Matt Adams launched a two-run homer over the right field wall, his 16th home run on the season, to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Indianapolis Indians got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. 1B Mason Martin led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch. DH Chris Owings walked to put runners on first and second. Two batters later, LF Canaan Smith-Njigba singled to right field and drove in Martin to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Indians did not go down quietly in the bottom of the ninth. After two quick outs, 2B Vinny Capra singled to left field. RF Joe Perez singled up the middle which allowed Capra to go to third. The next Batter, Martin popped out to short to end the threat for the Indians and give the Wings a 3-1 win.

RHP Roddery Muñoz got the start for the Wings Thursday night tossing 5.1 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out six and walking two. RHP Amos Willingham came in relief and hurled 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out one and walking one. RHP Gerson Moreno came in to pitch in the eighth inning, allowing no runs and no hits while striking out three. RHP Junior Fernandez closed things out for the Wings, tossing a scoreless ninth.

Diamond Pro Player of the game honors go to RHP Roddery Muñoz. The right-hander struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while allowing just one run on two hits, on the way to his first win since 7/4 against Omaha, with Gwinnett. This marked his longest start since he logged 5.2 innings on 8/21/2022-G1 against Pensacola, as a member of Double-A Mississippi (ATL).

Rochester looks to string together wins Friday night and even the series at two games apiece. LHP Alemao Hernandez looks for his fourth win in his last five starts, taking the mound against Indianapolis RHP Wil Crowe. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
