Nick Badders joined the Storm Chasers ahead of the 2023 season and enters his first season as the team's play-by-play broadcaster for all home and road games. 2022 marks Nick's seventh season on the air in professional baseball, his fourth in Minor League Baseball. Prior to coming to Omaha, Nick spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as the radio broadcaster for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. With the Naturals, he broadcast all 140 games and hosting the club's pre- and post-game shows, while also overseeing Media Relations efforts and assisting with social media, graphic design and website management as needed.
He held similar roles with the Melbourne Aces (Australian Baseball League) from 2019 to 2021, the Elizabethton Twins (Advanced Rookie, Minnesota Twins) in 2019 and Sonoma Stompers (independent Pacific Association) in 2018. In addition to his work on the air in Minor League Baseball, the Livermore, California native has called games for the Arkansas Razorbacks on SEC Network + and the Razorback Sports Network from Learfield.
Nick began his broadcasting career at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where he called a variety of Sun Devil events for the Pac-12 Networks digital platform and Blaze Radio ASU, the student radio station, until he graduated in May of 2020. He helped launch coverage of ASU's women's club ice hockey team, calling play-by-play and organizing broadcast crews, also coordinating content production.
When not calling games at Arizona State, he was a student photographer and shot nearly every sport on campus - from football to basketball, baseball, gymnastics and everything in between. He was recognized as the Cronkite School's 2019 Greg Crowder Memorial Photojournalism Award winner, awarded annually to the to the school's best student photojournalist each year.
