The Lynchburg Hillcats fell flat in game one of their series against the Fredericksburg Nationals by a score of 11-2 on Tuesday evening.

Dylan Crews put the dagger in the ballgame with his first professional grand slam in the seventh inning to put the Nationals far ahead. Lynchburg pitching surrendered 17 hits on the evening as Fredericksburg could not be kept off the bases.

The Nationals took the lead in the second and then tacked on more in the third inning. Lynchburg would cut the deficit in half in the fifth inning as Robert Lopez would drive two runs home with a double down the right field line to make it a 4-2 ballgame.

In the seventh, the Nationals would get the bases loaded for Crews, who jolted a fastball to the opposite field where it banged off the scoreboard to put the game essentially out of reach.

The Nationals would tack on three more in the eighth for good measure as the Hillcats struggled to piece anything together. The Hillcats ended the night having only collected three hits.

Lynchburg and Fredericksburg will square off for game two of the series on Wednesday evening starting at 6:30 p.m. at Bank of the James Stadium.
