The Akron RubberDucks scored two runs in the eighth inning, the final of the two unearned, and held to beat the Senators 3-2 Thursday night at FNB Field. Wilson Garcia was hitless and had his 17-game hitting streak snapped. The Senators had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before Akron rallied late for the win.

Ronald Herrera started and tossed six strong innings. He struck out eight, allowed four hits and just one run. He left the game with a 2-1 lead. Garvin Alston took the loss, going an inning and allowing two runs but only one earned. Malvin Pena pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. Carson Teel finished the game by retiring the final two batters in the ninth.

Hassell III doubled, singled twice, and walked in four plate appearances. He also stole second. Drew Millas singled twice and drove in a run. Jackson Cluff doubled and scored in the game. Trey Harris singled and scored in the game. Garcia lined out sharply to first base in the first inning, struck out in the third, reached on catchers’ interference in the fifth, and grounded to shortstop in the seventh.

The RubberDucks have taken two of the first three games of the series.
